Structure & materials

What you need to know about your auvent

The event canopy is a linear covering structure with a pitched roof, designed to extend an existing façade, create a welcome porch, shelter an entrance or cover a terrace. It combines a lightweight silhouette, discreet integration with the existing architecture and quick setup — typically 1 to 3 hours for standard sizes. It is the natural solution when you need to protect a threshold, create a covered waiting area or extend an indoor space outwards without installing a full structure. Widely used for corporate events (signposted welcome, reception exit), wedding evenings (welcome porch between car park and reception venue) and temporary commercial needs (restaurant terrace, Christmas market). The cost of hiring a canopy depends on the linear size, the options (side walls, lighting, radiant heating), the duration and the service area. As a guide, the ranges seen in 2026 run from €500 to €1,500 excl. VAT for a standard size of 3 to 6 linear metres, to €1,500-4,000 excl. VAT for the large sizes of 10 to 20 linear metres.

For which event?

Event welcome porch

For a corporate event or a wedding, the canopy creates a signposted welcome porch between the car park and the venue entrance. Guests are protected from the weather from the moment they arrive, which immediately enhances the organisation and signage of the event.

Shopfront extension

For a restaurant, bar or shop, the canopy extends the usable area outdoors without requiring planning permission for a temporary installation. Covering 6 to 12 linear metres over a terrace, it allows you to increase capacity without heavy investment.

Reception exit & drop-off

For weddings and galas, the canopy shelters the drop-off zone and the reception exit (cloakroom, guest set-down, late departure). Ideal alongside a marquee or main structure to smooth arrivals and departures without exposing guests to the weather.

Christmas market & temporary stand

For Christmas markets, seasonal markets and temporary stands on public squares, the canopy creates a covered projection that is quick to deploy and demountable at the end of the season, with signage integrated into the event's brand guidelines.

What to plan for

  • Ground: all types accepted. Fixing on ballasted base plates or façade anchoring depending on the site.
  • Access: standard convoy, setup by 2 to 3 people in 1 to 3 hours.
  • Wind: holds up to 60 to 80 km/h depending on anchoring. Preventive takedown beyond that.
  • Weatherproofing: the PVC roof is waterproof, but the open sides let in driving rain in strong wind — add side walls if necessary.
  • Regulations: no permit for a temporary installation under 3 months and under 20 linear metres on private land. To be confirmed with the town hall for public land.

Our team supports event organisers across France with a complete tent hire offer auvent. The canopy is the simplest and most direct welcome covering: it protects an entrance, a threshold or a transit zone without creating a heavy structure. It is essential for open-air events where the welcome for guests must be protected before they enter the main tent. We operate across the whole country, with teams that can be mobilised quickly to coordinate the setup, the access and the technical equipment. For an outdoor wedding, a corporate cocktail reception or a private reception, we size the structure, the guest flow and the technical options (flooring, lighting, heating, lining) to deliver a result that is durable, clear and consistent with your budget.

Our auvent formats

Our canopies are available in several lengths and depths, with white or beige fabric. They can be fixed directly to the main tent or put up independently on poles.

The models with side walls offer better protection in wind and rain. We select the model according to the orientation of the site and the level of protection expected.

Prices and budget for auvent hire

The canopy is one of the least expensive elements in the fleet. It is often included in the overall service or charged as an extra at a flat rate. We systematically include it in the overall quote.

For an event with several entrances or zones to cover, we offer a multi-canopy package with grouped logistics to optimise costs.

For a tent hire service auvent in France, you receive a full estimate within 24 h including delivery, setup, takedown and logistics coordination.

Setup, installation and logistics for auvent

Our teams handle the installation and delivery across the whole country, with a precise schedule agreed in advance with your reception venue.

Setting up a canopy is quick (under an hour) and can be carried out in parallel with the installation of the main tent. Anchoring is minimal: stakes or ballast depending on the ground.

We position the canopy in keeping with the welcome flows and the guest circulation plan, in coordination with the venue manager.

Everything to know before hiring your canopy

8 practical answers to prepare your canopy hire: capacities, prices, materials, logistics.

The price depends on the linear size (3 to 20 m), the options (side walls, lighting, heating), the length of use and the service area. As a guide, the ranges seen in 2026 run from €500 to €1,500 excl. VAT for a standard size of 3 to 6 linear metres, to €1,500-4,000 excl. VAT for the large sizes of 10 to 20 linear metres, delivery and setup included. For multi-day or long-term hires (seasonal restaurant terrace), reduced rates apply on quotation.

Yes, in most cases — fixing with steel base plates or chemical anchors depending on the nature of the façade. A fixing study is carried out during the prior site survey. For listed buildings or jointly owned blocks, prior approval from the building manager or the Bâtiments de France is required depending on the configuration.

1 to 3 hours for standard sizes (3 to 10 linear metres) with 2 to 3 people. For large sizes (15-20 linear metres) or complex façade fixings, allow half a day. Takedown 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Yes — the PVC roof is fully waterproof. The sides, however, are open by default: in driving rain with strong wind, water can come in from the side. Side walls in sheer drape or solid canvas can be added as an option to guarantee complete weatherproofing.

Ideally, allow 3 to 6 weeks to prepare your event with peace of mind and keep your choice of options and equipment. In high season (May to September) or for a wedding, book 6 to 12 months ahead. For urgent requests, our teams can step in within 48 to 72 h depending on availability and the complexity of the project.
