The reception is the most versatile format — private, professional, family, cocktail or seated dinner. Our role is to propose the structure that speaks to your venue and your format: from the folding pop-up gazebo to the large orangery, by way of the classic marquee.

Our recommendation

For a reception, the right call hinges on 3 things: capacity (which sets the size), level of finish (which points towards a stretch tent, orangery or premium marquee), and the season (which adds heating, closable walls).

Worth keeping in mind

A reception that is too short can make the structure feel oversized. For 2-3h cocktails, stick to a simple format (stretch tent, pop-up gazebo) rather than committing to a heavy setup.

Which structure for which headcount?

The right setup depends first on the number of guests expected. Here are our recommendations by headcount band for a réception.

01

20 – 40 guests

Small reception, drinks reception or leaving party

Pop-up gazebo 4×8m or 5×10m — 30 to 55 m² is enough.

02

40 – 80 guests

Intimate reception, cocktail or private dinner

Stretch tent ~75-130 m² or pop-up gazebo 6×12m.

03

80 – 150 guests

Standard reception, standing dinner cocktail or dinner

Marquee 10×15m or stretch tent ~150 m².

04

150 – 300 guests

Large reception, cocktail + dinner + party

Marquee 10×30m or orangery 10×25m.

05

300 – 500 guests

Very large reception, several areas (welcome, dinner, party)

Large volume 20×40m or paired marquees — allow for service areas.

Our team supports event organisers across France with a complete tent hire offer réception. The reception is the generic format that covers the cocktail hour, the seated dinner, the drinks reception, the brunch or any social gathering under a tent. The choice of structure depends on the context: dressed marquee for a formal meal, stretch tent for an estate garden, orangery for a gala, multi-pole tipi for a bohemian atmosphere or modular pagoda tents for a standing cocktail. We operate across the whole country, with teams that can be mobilised quickly to coordinate the setup, the access and the technical equipment. For an outdoor wedding, a corporate cocktail reception or a private reception, we size the structure, the guest flow and the technical options (flooring, lighting, heating, lining) to deliver a result that is durable, clear and consistent with your budget.

Why hire a tent for réception

Hiring a reception tent lets you turn any venue (garden, meadow, terrace, courtyard, family land) into a professional event space, with thermal and acoustic comfort suited to the planned duration and format.

This flexibility is valuable for organisers who want a unique, non-standardised setting and who wish to keep control over all the parameters: caterer, decorator, suppliers, timing, layout plan.

Our offer for réception

For a reception, we steer you towards the marquee (standard volume for 60 to 500 people), the stretch tent (premium look in a garden), the orangery (gala and prestige parties), the pagoda tent (urban or configurable cocktail) or the reception tipi (wedding and bohemian party).

Each model comes in several footprints with options for flooring, lighting, heating, air conditioning, interior dressing and furniture (tables, chairs, poseur tables, lounge furniture).

We confirm the sizing based on the format (standing cocktail, seated dinner, dinner plus dance floor) and the provisional seating plan to optimise the usable area.

Prices and budget for réception

The price of a reception tent hire varies greatly according to the capacity, the duration, the structure and the technical options. A cocktail for 60 people under a dressed pagoda tent remains very affordable; a gala reception under a premium orangery falls at the high end of the range.

We price each item separately (structure, flooring, lighting, heating, furniture) to allow clear trade-offs according to the total budget available.

For a tent hire service réception in France, you receive a full estimate within 24 h including delivery, setup, takedown and logistics coordination.

Setup, installation and logistics

Our teams handle the installation and delivery across the whole country, with a precise schedule agreed in advance with your reception venue.

Setup for a reception is scheduled the day before or two days before depending on the complexity, with a final test of the lighting, the heating and the technical equipment before the caterer arrives.

Takedown is carried out the next day or the day after with full restoration of the site. We provide on-call technical support for the duration of the event for demanding configurations.

FAQ

Everything to know before hiring a tent for a reception

8 targeted answers to prepare your reception project: capacities, prices, regulations, logistics.

The marquee is a classic space with central poles, ideal for seated dinners and large capacities (up to 500 guests). The stretch tent has a more contemporary, organic silhouette, perfect for cocktails and free-style receptions, on more measured capacities (up to 200 guests).

For a standing cocktail: 0.7 m² per guest. For a seated dinner with round tables: 1 m² per guest + 30 m² for the dance floor and bar. For a mixed cocktail + dinner: allow 1.2 m² per guest.

The budget depends on capacity, level of finish and the season. As a guide: €2,000 to €3,800 for a 60-guest reception under a stretch tent, €3,500 to €6,500 for 100 guests, €5,500 to €10,000 for 150 guests under a marquee with full flooring. Above 300 guests, the layout is quoted individually. These ranges include setup and takedown; transport costs are added according to distance.

Start from the floor-area rule: 0.7 m² per guest for a standing cocktail, 1 m² for a seated dinner, plus 30 m² for the dance floor and bar. In practice: 50 people fit under a stretch tent of about 75 m² or a 6×12m pop-up gazebo; 100 people under a 10×15m marquee; 150 people under a 10×20m marquee. Above 200 guests, add 15 to 20 % of floor area for the cloakroom, bar and catering access.

You describe your project — date, venue, number of guests, format — using the form. We call you back within 24 h to scope the requirement and check what is feasible on your ground. You then receive a detailed costed proposal, after which we settle the layout and the setup schedule before signing. Setup and takedown are handled by our teams.

Yes, and it is included: our local teams handle the setup, the adjustment and the takedown — you have nothing to put up yourself. It takes from half a day for a stretch tent or pop-up gazebo to two days for a large marquee with flooring. Ground access (passage width, load-bearing capacity, slope) is checked beforehand during the site survey.

In high season (May to September), allow 3 to 6 months: premium structures and June weekends go first. Off-season, or for modest capacities, two to four weeks is often enough. We also handle urgent enquiries subject to fleet availability — in every case, you get a reply within 24 h.

It depends on the floor area, how long it stays up and how many people it holds. A short temporary installation on private land often requires no formalities; beyond that, a prior declaration to the town hall may be needed. Structures open to the public also fall under the French CTS classification (marquees, tents and structures). We supply the technical documents required — plans, certificates and M2 fire-reaction test reports — and guide you through the process.
